Based in Northeast Pennsylvania, singer-songwriter Kate Hearity, known on stage as k8 (pronounced “Kate”), has spent a lifetime turning stories into songs. Drawing inspiration from artists like the Indigo Girls, Brandi Carlile, and Mariah Carey, k8 blends heartfelt storytelling, soulful vocals, and an acoustic singer-songwriter sound with touches of pop and country.

Since releasing her critically acclaimed debut original EP, "Something Out of Nothing" in 2004, k8 has performed prior to national artists including Stevie Nicks, John Waite, Survivor, Brooks and Dunn, and The Indigo Girls.  She also appeared on the MTV Books Release, Lit Riffs (The Soundtrack), and was featured in a national Days Inn commercial singing "Keep on the Sunny Side" which aired in both television and radio formats from 2004-2008.

For k8, music has always been about connection. The stories we tell, the memories we carry, and the things we're brave enough to say only when there's a melody attached. Equal parts heart, humor, and a healthy dose of attitude, k8 brings an unmistakably personal touch to every performance. Whether sharing her own material or putting her spin on a familiar favorite, she has a knack for making every song feel like a shared experience. She's still writing, still dreaming, and still convinced a song can be found in just about everything, even the things we think we shouldn't talk about.
